Events & group excursions

Vintage car lovers and club members

In addition to the group tours, the Vötter’s Hotel provides the Kaiser Franz Joseph carriage for drinks. Kaprun is also the ideal starting point for trips to the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, as well as the surrounding attractions of the vacation region Zell am See-Kaprun.

Grossglockner Vintage Tractor World Championship

The world championship is held annually in mid-September. It is also known as the Tractor Olympics. In autumn, hundreds of tractors gather at the foot of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. The starting point is at the Bruck an der Glocknerstraße. The finish line is on the Kaiser-Franz-Joseph Höhe. The world champion is determined in a regularity procedure on two race days. The international participants all have one goal: to climb the Grossglockner Road and win the world championship title on their beloved vintage tractor. The highlight for all visitors is the marquee at the end of the race day, where the exhibits can be admired at close range.

More information and details about the event can be found at www.traktorwm.at.

The history of the Vötter’s car museum in Kaprun

Helmut Vötter grew up in modest circumstances on a farm. His passion for motorized vehicles began at an early age and with a lot of hard work and effort he was able to fulfill his childhood dream: he bought an old BMW Isetta and lovingly restored it. This was the start of his passionate collecting career, which was to last for a lifetime. Over the years he bought so many cars in need of restoration, which he painstakingly restored back to life by hand. Today he looks back on one of the most extensive car collections in Europe. He likes to personally tell his guests the stories of his very special vehicles.
